Cape Town-based CI Systems have recently been appointed as exclusive local reseller for Communication by light GmbH (CBL) whose products provide enhanced flexibility and performance for fibre optic networks.

CBL is a German company offering a family of special optic fibre products to support high-end data communications. The range includes optical links, fibre converters, fibre doublers, fibre regenerators and fibre amplifiers.

Included in CBLs line-up is an FDDI Fibre Converter which transforms FDDI signals between multimode and singlemode fibre, thus allowing transmission of 100 Mbits-1 FDDI over distances of up to 40 km.

The companys high speed Laser Link converts signals from fibre to laser beam, enabling transmission of 100 Mbits-1 FDDI or 155 Mbits-1 ATM over distances of up to 2 000 m through the atmosphere.
