(4) How to use the Diagnostics Program

In order to test your adapter please follow the steps below:

Step 1.
Start the DOS-based utility program SKFPDIAG.EXE using any of the
available options to specify the network adapter correctly.
NOTE:	The options '-b', '-d', and '-s' may be combined as required in
order to specify the exact network adapter which is to be tested.
All specified options are checked against the network adapter
list. If no match is found or more than one match then a list of
all SK-NET FDDI PCI adapters installed is displayed. You can
also force a list of all SK-NET FDDI PCI adapters installed
	by using the '-l' option.

Step 2.
Select the action you wish to carry out.
If the network adapter is to be tested, two options are available:
"Diag. with Loopback"
is recommended and requires that the wrap plug(s), if available,
be installed prior to running this test.
"Diagnostics"
Select if no wrap plug is available.

Step 3.
If you intend to maintain your Flash PROM contents, select the menu item
"Flash PROM ..." and a new menu will appear. You now have the choice of
saving your Flash PROM contents to a file ("Save Flash PROM to File"),
writing a file into the Flash PROM ("Load Flash PROM from File"), or
erasing your Flash PROM contents ("Clear Flash PROM").

Step 4.
If an SK-NET FDDI PCI64 Adapter is installed the "VPD Data ..." item is
displayed. If selected, the VPD menu appears and you have the choice of
displaying the adapter's VPD data ("Display VPD Data") or clearing error
log entries ("Clear Error Logs").

NOTE:	When running the adapter tests, it is absolutely necessary that
the Diagnostic Program has exclusive use of that network adapter.
All drivers running on the adapter will be stopped!
